Innovation
Challenges and hackathons
In addition to internships and thesis assignments, the educational institutions also facilitate various challenges and hackathons in which students can participate. Student teams work on creative and innovative solutions for socially relevant challenges in the field of smart and sustainable mobility.
Top Dutch Solar Racing Groningen
Top Dutch Solar Racing is a multidisciplinary solar racing team from Groningen. Innovation, sustainability and technology are top priorities at Top Dutch. At the moment, 23 motivated students from MBO, HBO and WO are busy building the second solar car in the Northern Netherlands.
HARD – Hanze Racing Division
Hanze Racing Division, abbreviated HARD, consists of a group of enthusiastic students who design, build and race a Formula Student race car every year. HARD is currently developing its first all-electric race car.
Self Driving Challenge
Making a kart self-driving across the finish line, this is the mission of the teams participating in the Self Driving Challenge (SDC). The SDC is a collaboration between RDW, Quintor, The Grid Racing and the Hanze University Digital Society Hub (DSH), with the aim of testing the technology of self-driving cars.
New Energy Regatta
The annual Solar Race in Groningen on the water has been renamed ‘New Energy Regatta’. On Friday 24 September 2021, a hydrogen racing boat sailed for the first time during the Solar Races in Groningen. The New Energy Regatta is an inspiring way to link technical innovations in energy with education, practice and sport.
