First Autonomous Flying demo day was successful

On July 15, 2020, the first demonstration day Autonomous Flying took place, which was jointly organized by Hive.Mobility, the province of Groningen and DroneHub GAE. DroneHub GAE has started the long-term Autonomous Flying programme on behalf of and in collaboration with the province of Groningen. The first step is to organize test flights and live demonstrations.

Holthausen opens the first European factory for hydrogen trucks in Groningen, with American HYZON

The company Holthausen Clean Technology from Hoogezand opens, together with the American company HYZON Motors Inc., a factory for hydrogen trucks. HYZON announces the launch of HYZON Motors Europe B.V its new European headquarters and manufacturing center based in Groningen.

ATO: Automatic Train Operation

About 50 train travellers made their first ride in an automatically controlled train. The train ran between Groningen and Zuidhorn. A first on the Dutch railway, happening in Groningen. The test drives provide important information about how travellers experience driving an automatically operated train (ATO).

The Northern Netherlands is the first region to receive a subsidy for their so-called Hydrogen Valley

Groningen, Drenthe and Friesland will become European front runners, because they are the first region to receive a subsidy with a total project size of approximately 90 million euros. This subsidy is intended for the development of a fully functioning green hydrogen chain in the Northern Netherlands.

Large subsidy for living lab for Transport and Mobility in Groningen

Together with the Hanze University of Applied Sciences, Noorderpoort and 18 regional partners, the University of Groningen is receiving a large subsidy from the NWO (Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research) and TKI Dinalog (Dutch Institute for Advanced Logistics) for starting a living lab for transport and mobility. This living lab, to be known by its acronym SMiLES (Shared connectivity in Mobility and Logistics Enable Sustainability), will focus on open mobility and logistics networks building on concepts of the sharing economy.

The development center for smart mobility is called Hive.Mobility

The center in Groningen where governments, knowledge institutions and the business community work together on the development of smart and green transport, is called Hive.Mobility. The center was officially opened on 5 July 2019. In the center, there is collaboration on a safe and easily accessible environment.
